The Journey Behind Katurah Kreations

Story

It started in 2017 when my mom brought home a bead-woven bracelet from Minnesota. My love for arts and crafts began from an early age. I saw something and I would want to try and make it. Conveniently, my mom had a plastic loom in the garage. That is where it all started. It took a couple of months of research to find thread and beads. There was a bead shop 30 minutes away which is where I got my first set of seed beads and thread. My first bracelet was a bright red, orange blue, and yellow bracelet that had many broken beads by the end. It took me months to finish because I didn’t have the perfect clasp. Pinterest provides a lot of inspiration and one day I saw a beaded peyote stitch ball. It gave me the finishing touch to finish my first bracelet.

My beaded bracelets collection grew and a year ago I started making earrings. I wanted to share my love for beads with everyone. Art has always been a form for expression and a time to be creative. Every bead, thread, and minute is a joy.

Materials

Every bracelet and earring is handmade with glass beads. The beads can be unique and have different finishes. The beads are woven with nymo thread. All the attachments and beads are held together with tension by weaving the threads back into the bracelet or earring. The bracelet clasps are made with a wood bead and seed beads covering it. Each piece takes hours to create but it is so fun to see each unique piece come together.

Hi! My name is Katurah

Thank you for visiting! I am the artist behind Katurah Kreations. I live in Washington where I spend most of my time planning my next art project or hanging out with family and friends. I love time-consuming crafts that have colors, textures, simplicity yet detailed. On rainy days you can find me at my desk, drinking chai and listening to an audiobook. On summer days, I love the sound of my nieces running around with ice cream in hand. My love for art has continued to grow as I try more mediums. Aside from beading, I love ceramics, wood-burning, and kirigami. Art has always been a form of expression. I love the process of making something that I can use or feel. Hours are spent at my desk planning my next project(s). One of the best feelings is cleaning my desk just so that I can get it messy again.
